The Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our infrastructure to support the development and deployment of our software solutions and platform for the construction industry.
The DevOps Engineer will also play a crucial role in optimising and managing our cloud infrastructure that supports our customer facing products and services. To be successful, you will need to collaborate closely with our product and engineering teams to streamline deployment processes, automate tasks, and enhance the overall efficiency of our operations.
Responsibilities
• Work closely with the engineering teams to develop and maintain best practices for CI/CD pipelines to enable smooth and rapid delivery of code to production environments.
• Develop and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify and address performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and other operational concerns.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including product development, customer services and data teams) to optimise application performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and uptime in accordance with SLAs.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise infrastructure costs, increase operational efficiency, and enhance overall reliability and performance.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in DevOps to recommend and implement innovative solutions that drive business value.
• Act as the escalation point from members of the IT team working the internal helpdesk system for cloud application related issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation of systems, procedures, and workflows to ensure knowledge is shared amongst other members of the team.
• Support the cost optimisation of the Cloud solutions, identifying opportunities to manage spend and working with the teams to be financial performant.
The essentials we need from you
• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, with a focus on cloud infrastructure and automation.
• Strong proficiency in at least one cloud platform (AWS preferable) and hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent.
• Experience with container orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes) for deploying and managing services-based applications.
• Experience in scripting and automation methods such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, YAML, Powershell.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience of working in a medium to large enterprise with multiple stakeholders to manage.
Desirable Skills
• Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Azure DevOps) for automating software delivery pipelines.
• Knowledge of ISO27001 (Information Security) desirable.
• Able to focus on detail, be a good completer/finisher and produce high quality and auditable deliverables.
